Joint Medical Camp Conducted for Tribal Communities in Niravilpuzha

A medical camp was jointly organized by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) Kochi, Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, Kalpetta, VSS Wayanad, and the Forest Range Office, Mananthavady on November 16, 2025. The camp was held for the tribal communities residing in the Niravilpuzha tribal hamlets, located within the Mananthavady Forest Range.

The initiative aimed to provide accessible and quality healthcare to the tribal population living in remote forest areas. To ensure comprehensive medical support, the camp incorporated telemedicine services connecting various specialties from Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center, Edappally, Kochi. This facilitated specialized consultations and expert medical opinions in real time.

More than 120 patients were directly attended to at the camp, with an equal number of additional patients benefiting through their bystanders. The services covered general medicine, pediatrics, emergency medicine, surgery, and pharmacy support.

The medical team included Professor and Dr. Sreekumar, Pediatric and General Surgery (AIMS Kochi); Dr. Hari, MD Emergency Medicine and Assistant Surgeon, CHC Koduvally, Kozhikode; Dr. Ageesh, MD Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, Kalpetta; Rajeesh, Telemedicine Technician (AIMS Kochi); Pharmacist Jisha; and Nurse Reshma from Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, Kalpetta. Their joint efforts ensured the success of the camp and improved access to healthcare services in this remote region.

The event reflected the collective commitment of AIMS Kochi, Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, and their partners to extend compassionate medical care and innovative health solutions to all sections of society, including underserved tribal communities.
