In a vital initiative aimed at expanding healthcare accessibility across remote terrain in the Western Ghats, a comprehensive free medical outreach camp was successfully conducted at Raroth Unnathi, adjacent to Edaguni village in Wayanad district, on August 19.

The day-long humanitarian camp was spearheaded by Dr. Keerthana MBBS, from Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, Kalpetta, Wayanad, who led a dedicated multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver preventative screenings, diagnostic assessments, and vital therapeutics directly to local residents who routinely encounter geographical and logistical barriers when seeking hospital care.

Frontline Clinical Leadership and Patient Care

From early morning, dozens of families, agricultural workers, and elderly citizens from Edaguni and neighboring settlements arrived at the Raroth Unnathi center. Under the clinical supervision of Dr. Keerthana, attendees underwent thorough general health check-ups and targeted screenings for chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, respiratory ailments, and nutritional deficiencies.

The smooth execution of the camp was supported by an agile healthcare support brigade. Dr. Keerthana was assisted throughout the diagnostic evaluations by Anupama and Anamika, Trainees (BPA), who managed patient registration, triage, vital recording, and assisted with geriatric and pediatric care logistics.

Comprehensive Nursing and Pharmaceutical Dispensation

Clinical triage, wound dressings, and individualized patient counseling were anchored by staff nurse Bindu, who guided attendees through vital health management practices. Concurrently, Jisha, the on-site Pharmacist, oversaw the dispensary unit, ensuring that all prescribed medications, anti-hypertensives, antibiotics, analgesics, and essential nutritional supplements were dispensed free of charge with detailed dosage instructions.
