Doctor on a Mission: Wayanad Medics Bring Lifesaving Care to Forgotten Tribal Colony

Armed with stethoscopes, supplies, and unstoppable determination, Dr. Keerthana and her team from Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital, on January 3rd 2026 trekked deep into Wayanad’s rugged remote tribal lands, to the Idinjankolly Tribal Colony.
In a single day, they reached over 32 patients, from expectant mothers and frail elders to tiny newborns, delivering medical care right to their doorsteps. For many, it was the first time in months a doctor had come calling.
Joining Dr. Keerthana were nurses Sheela and Vineetha and pharmacist Aswathi, who went house to house across the rugged settlement, checking vitals, dispensing medicine, and offering much-needed words of comfort.
Their visit wasn’t just medical — it was emotional. Residents, touched by the rare attention, said the team brought “hope and healing” to a place often left off the map.
The Amrita Kripa team says more outreach drives are in the works for Wayanad’s remote corners — proof that compassion can travel any distance.
