Amrita Vidyalayam Manathavady Hosts Two-Day Free Medical Camp for Tribal Communities
A two-day multi-specialty camp at Manathavady Amrita Vidyalayam provides vital medical access, consultations, and medications in honor of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s visit.

In a compassionate outreach effort reflecting the ethos of humanitarian service, a dedicated medical team successfully concluded a two-day free health camp on October 30 and 31 at Amrita Vidyalayam, Manathavady.
Organized in connection with the visit of the institution’s patron, the revered spiritual leader and humanitarian Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma), the camp bridged critical healthcare gaps for marginalized populations in the high-range Wayanad district.
The initiative prioritized grassroots accessibility, drawing local residents from surrounding areas. Notably, 68 tribal patients received specialized medical attention, addressing chronic ailments, nutritional concerns, and general health screenings that are often difficult to access in remote terrain.
A Multidisciplinary Care Team
The camp was driven by an experienced medical and technical personnel roster committed to holistic community care:
- Dr. Ageesh, MBBS, MD – General Medicine
- Dr. Srikumar, MBBS, MS – Surgery
- Dr. Keerthana, MBBS – General Consultation
- Malavika, BPA – Intern
- Mr. Rateesh – Telemedicine Technician (facilitating remote specialist connectivity)
- Lolakshi – Pharmacist (dispensing prescribed medications free of cost)
Beyond medical consultations and diagnostics, the organizers ensured that attendees were cared for comprehensively, with free, nutritious meals supplied to all patients and visitors throughout the duration of the two-day camp.
The event underscores Amrita Vidyalayam’s ongoing commitment to community welfare, blending modern medical expertise with traditional values of selfless service and compassion.
