Amrita Kripa Hospital Marks 80th Independence Day With Call For Community Service

As India marked its 80th Independence Day on August 15th, the spirit of patriotism intertwined with a commitment to public service at Amrita Kripa Charitable Hospital Wayanad, where staff, patients, and local dignitaries gathered to commemorate the milestone.
The event, held against the backdrop of the verdant Wayanad landscape, served as a reminder of the hospital’s enduring role in the rural healthcare infrastructure of the country. The ceremonial flag hoisting was conducted in the presence of distinguished guests, including Adv. Chathukutty, former president of the Malabar Devaswom Board; Mr. Mohanan, president of the Wayanad Chamber of Commerce; and Mr. Krishna Prasad, general manager of Edaguvi Estate.
Addressing the gathering, the guests underscored the significance of the day not merely as a celebration of political sovereignty, but as an opportunity to reflect on the values of service and compassion that underpin charitable healthcare institutions.
Following the hoisting of the tricolour, the atmosphere grew solemn and resonant as those present joined in a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem. The ceremony offered a moment of respite for patients and healthcare workers alike, bridging the gap between clinical duties and national identity.
The proceedings concluded on a note of camaraderie, with the distribution of sweets to both hospital staff and patients, marking the occasion with a modest but heartfelt gesture of unity.
For many at the hospital, the celebration was an acknowledgment of the progress the nation made over the last eight decades, while highlighting the ongoing necessity of accessible, community-focused healthcare in the years ahead.
