Self Employment Workshop at Amrita University
A one day workshop on self employment was conducted at AVVP Ettimadai, Electrical and Communication Department, under the Amrita SeRVe project.
12 Tribal girls from Attappady, Palakkad, Kerala were trained by Tribal Trainers from Sadivayal village of Tamil Nadu. Preparation personal cleaning products, including Bath Soaps, Washing soap, Soap Powder, Plate Washing lotion, Hand washing lotion were conducted. Trainees were given the products and kits for preparing the items for further sale for earning their personal income. Financial self reliance is one of the central objectives of Amrita SeRVe project.
Separate sessions were conducted on formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) and development of a manufacturing unit with the aid of Government and Bank loans.
After the workshop the attendees visited the University run organic farm.
Deputy Dean Dr Mahadevan inaugurated the session. Dr Santhosha and Prof Sreeni conducted the sessions.
