Sivarathri was celebrated with great fervour on 24th Feb 2017 at Malleswaran hills.

Tribal health workers performed their traditional dance in front of Lord Shiva, spending the whole night in the temple premises located in the valley.

On the night of Sivarathri, they climbed the mountain to its peak, locally known as Malleswaramudi, after performing a 41-day long fast and prayer while residing within the temple premises. The light from the lamps at the peak is visible from as far as 200km away at Aluva, another pilgrimage center known for its Sivarathri celebrations.
